The Appointment of "Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador”
2022/5/16
On May 13, 2022, Consul General Ohmori presented to Mr. Toru Oga the official certificate appointing him as "Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador." Mr. Oga has been promoting the allure of Japanese food in Hong Kong and the U.S. for many years, and has also helped to train many young people in the art of Japanese cuisine and contributed to the increase in the number of Japanese restaurants in the Boston area.
In order to further advance the appeal of Japanese food and culinary culture, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) appoints Japanese culinary professionals to serve as ambassadors of goodwill who can provide sound advice on how to promote Japanese food and its culinary culture. Thus far, there have been 16 “Goodwill Ambassador” appointments in North America, and this occasion marks the first in Boston.
In the future, it is expected that the Ambassadors will cooperate in various projects to promote Japanese food and food culture and disseminate information through various mediums of media.
