Loan Library
The Consulate-General of Japan has a collection of Japanese cultural materials for loan purposes.
Items can be loaned out for a week. Materials will be loaned out depending on availability. Requests should be made in advance and items should be picked up and returned to the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston by the borrower. All yukata, happi, and flag must be washed, ironed, and folded, and returned in the original state that it was loaned out. Please fill in the request form and send it by email to infocul@bz.mofa.go.jp.
If necessary, items can be mailed at the borrower's expense and must be returned promptly at the end of the loan period. For K – 12 students, please have an adult fill out the request form. Items can only be loaned out to people living in Connecticut (except Fairfield county), New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. Those living outside of the New England area should contact their local Consulate.
