Passing of Professor Ezra Vogel

The Program on US-Japan Relations, Harvard University, announced that Dr. Ezra F. Vogel, Professor of the Social Sciences Emeritus, passed away on December 20. Professor Vogel is known as a leading American expert on Japanese studies, who served in several key posts, such as directors of the Program on US-Japan Relations and the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. "Japan as Number One" was published in 1979 and became a best seller in Japan.
