Japan Festival Boston 2018
Japan Festival Boston 2018 was held at Boston Common on April 29th. After Consul General Michii’s opening remarks, Ms. Lori Ehrlich, MA State Representative, and Mr. Nam Pham, Assistant Secretary of Business Development and International Trade for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, gave congratulatory greetings. Mr. Pham read the message from Mr. Charles Baker, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, “On behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I am pleased to commemorate the Japan Festival Boston.”
Attended by over 72,000 visitors on both Saturday (The Pre-Day Food festival was also held on April 28th) and Sunday, the Festival showcased many forms of Japanese culture in workshops, the history pavilion, booths, stage performances and, of course, Japanese food! The Festival ended with a rousing bon-odori dance led by taiko drummers and followed by many concentric circles of happy dancers.
