Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2019

On July 16th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the Foreign Minister Commendation for the year of 2019. This year, 206 individuals and 63 groups have been selected, including the following individual and groups who reside in the New England area.
- Ms. Keiko Takayasu (Former Chief Director of the Japanese Language School of Greater Boston) for promoting Japanese language education within the United States of America
- Ikebana International Boston 17th Branch for disseminating the Japanese culture in the United States of America
- Greater Hartford Japanese Association for promoting the mutual understanding between Japan and the United States of America
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recognized these individual and groups for their significant and honorable efforts of cultural exchange, and the promotion of friendship between Japan and the United States of America, and has decided to award the Commendation to these recipients as acknowledgement of their contributions to both Japan and the United States of America. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
