Commendation Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for Prof.　Theodore Bestor (Dec. 20, 2017)

The Commendation Ceremony for Prof. Theodore C. Bestor, Director of Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies and Professor of Social Anthropology at Harvard University was held at the Consul General’s residence on December 20th. After Consul General Michii’s remarks, Profs. Gordon and Howell of Harvard University, as well as Prof. Nicolas Sternsdorff of Southern Methodist University gave congratulatory remarks, followed by Prof. Condry of MIT proposing a toast. All guests celebrated Prof. Bestor.

Prof. Bestor received the decoration because of his contribution to the development and promotion of Japanese studies and Japanese culture in the United States.
