On Sept. 28th, the Consulate held two lectures by Prof. Takahiro Tsuchiya (a Professor at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies) in co-sponsorship with Tufts University’s Fletcher School and Brandise University. Both talks focused on the topic of “Emerging Technologies, Security, and the Future of Japan-U.S. Alliance.”

Prof. Tsuchiya spoke about China’s progress in emerging technologies and their uses in military and security areas, and stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation between Japan and the U.S. in technology, security, and economic security. Consul-General Takahashi gave introductory remarks and stated his hope that the talks would deepen the understanding of the Japan-US alliance’s importance. Both lectures were well-attended and led to lively discussions.
