On June 23, Consul General Takahashi attended the opening ceremony for th Japan Foundation’s traveling exhibition “Yokai Parade: Supernatural Monsters from Japan” at the Elihu Burritt Library of Central Connecticut State University.
The exhibition introduces Japan's Yokai (supernatural monster) culture, focusing on emaki (picture scrolls) and nishiki-e (brocade prints), and extending to modern media such as toys and films.
Consul General Takahashi, in his remarks, expressed his hope that the exhibition would serve as an opportunity to deepen the ties between Japan and Connecticut and promote further cultural exchange.
The ceremony also included remarks by Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Central Connecticut State University, Dr. Gilbert Gigliotti, and Director of the Elihu Burritt Library, Dr. Carl Antonucci, as well as a presentation on Yokai “Depictions of Yokai in Japanese Art” by Assistant Professor of the Central Connecticut State University, Dr. Matthew Chudnow.
The exhibition is scheduled to go through until July 16.
