On June 12, Consul General Takahashi presented a Commendation to Ms. Toshiko Uchino, President of the U.S. & Japan Society of Connecticut.
Ms. Uchino has long served as a vital bridge between Japan and the State of Connecticut. She has made significant contributions to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States, including through her leadership of the “250 Japanese Cherry Blossom Trees Across Connecticut Project,” which spreads the cherry blossom—an enduring symbol of Japan–U.S. friendship—throughout the state. In recognition of her distinguished achievements, she has also been named an Honorary Citizen of East Hartford.
Upon receiving the award, Ms. Uchino expressed her gratitude and shared her intention to continue contributing to the further development of Japan–U.S. relations through cultural exchange and community-based activities.
