Vermont General Assembly Adopts Resolution Remembering the 15th Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake (March 24, 2026)

On March 24th, the Vermont General Assembly adopted a resolution remembering the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which occurred on March 11, 2011. Consul General Takahashi was in attendance. During the session, State Representative Jonathan Cooper, who led the resolution, read aloud a message from Consul General Takahashi. In his message, Consul General Takahashi expressed his gratitude for both the resolution adopted by the Vermont General Assembly in the year following the disaster and the current resolution. He also noted that the friendship and solidarity shown by friends in the United States toward Japan provided hope and encouragement to many people. He further expressed his sincere hope that this resolution would serve as an opportunity to further develop Japan–Vermont relations.
On this occasion, Consul General Takahashi also visited the House Committee on Commerce and Economic Development, to which Representative Cooper belongs, where he exchanged views with committee members on strengthening Japan–Vermont relations, with a focus on economic and cultural ties.
