Consul General Takahashi Participates in the Symposium co-hosted by Harvard University and the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) (February 6, 2026)

On February 6th, Consul General Takahashi participated in a symposium entitled “Building U.S.-Japan Relations after the Second World War: Eight Decades of Security, Trade, and Trust”, which was co-hosted by the Program on US-Japan Relations, the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, and the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA).
In his remarks, Consul General Takahashi introduced the Japan-U.S. relationship in the region, stating that "Japan Day" has been designated in various states/cities in New England last year, and that economic ties with Japan are rapidly developing, particularly centered around the Boston ecosystem.
In addition, the Consul General mentioned that we, as a consulate, are launching a new initiative “J-NEXUS: Japan-New England Nexus for Innovation” this year, stating that it would further contribute to the promotion of friendship, cooperation, and collaboration between Japan and New England by regularly sharing curated information, particularly in the rapidly expanding and evolving innovation ecosystem of this region.
At the symposium, lively discussions were held on both the academic and policy aspects of Japan-U.S. relations. The Consulate-General intends to continue actively promoting academic exchange between Japan and the U.S..
