Lecture by KIRIDORI Ryo, Research Fellow at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS)(January 28, 2026)

On January 28th, the Consulate, in co-sponsorship with Tufts University’s Fletcher School and Boston University, held lectures by Ryo Kiridori, Research Fellow at the National Institute for Defense Studies(NIDS), titled “Making Sense of Japan’s Defense Policy: Continuities, Changes, and Challenges.”
 
During the lectures, Research Fellow Kiridori provided a detailed explanation of the security environment surrounding Japan and Japan’s defense policy. Consul General Takahashi also delivered opening remarks, expressing his hope that the lectures would deepen understanding of the importance of the Japan–U.S. Alliance. Both lectures were well attended and featured lively exchanges of views.
