On January 16, Consul General Takahashi held a handover ceremony for the Foreign Minister’s Commendation awarded to Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Thompson, Terrie and Bradley Bloom Curator of Japanese Prints at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA Boston), at the official residence.
Dr. Thompson received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation in recognition of her outstanding contributions to promoting Japanese culture in the United States.
Appointed as Curator of the MFA Boston, in 2015, she has played a significant role in disseminating Japanese culture and art in the region for many years. Her notable achievements include creating an online digital catalog of the museum’s collection of over 50,000 Japanese prints (Ukiyo-e), curating numerous special exhibitions of Ukiyo-e at the MFA Boston and other venues—including the 2015 exhibition "Hokusai"—and publishing books and numerous exhibition catalogs for the museum.
