Consul General Takahashi attends Conference on the 120th Anniversary of the Treaty of Portsmouth at Boston University (April 9, 2025)

On April 9th, Consul General Takahashi attended a conference titled “A 120-Year Retrospective: The Russo-Japanese War and Treaty of Portsmouth with Implications for Today” held at Boston University, and delivered opening remarks. The conference featured active discussions on the Treaty of Portsmouth, which holds historical significance for both Japan and the United States, and included participation from Professor Chiharu Inaba of the Faculty of Urban Science at Meijo University—an esteemed expert on the Russo-Japanese War.
On the 8th, Consul General Takahashi visited Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine and exchanged view with Mr. Charles B. Doleac, Founder and President of the Japan-America Society of New Hampshire. On this occasion, he toured historically significant sites such as the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where the Japanese and Russian delegations conducted negotiations, and the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, where both delegations stayed during the talks.
