On March 7, Consul General Takahashi visited Temple Emeth, a Jewish synagogue in the town of Brookline, and toured the Sugihara Memorial Garden, which honors Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese diplomat who issued visas—commonly known as "Visas for Life"—to Jewish refugees during World War II.

Afterward, Consul General Takahashi held discussions with five members of the Brookline Select Board and senior officials from the American Jewish Committee (AJC), exchanging views on strengthening relations with Brookline, a town with a significant Japanese community.
