Lecture by Professor JIMBO Ken of Keio University (Monday, September 9th)

On September 9th, the Consulate General of Japan in Boston, in cooperation with Boston University's Center for Asian studies, hosted Professor Jimbo's online lecture titled, "The Transformation of Japanese Security Policy: The US-Japan Alliance and the new Geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific."
Professor Jimbo spoke mainly about Japan's national security environment, its National Security Strategy/National Defense Strategy, and the New Plan for a "Free and Open Indo Pacific (FOIP)” announced by Prime Minister Kishida in March of 2023. Moderator Professor Thomas Berger, as well as colleague Professor William Grimes, in addition to over 100 attendees, engaged in a spirited exchange of opinions about East Asia security, as well as Japan-US relations.
