May 16, 2024
On May 11th, Consul General Suzuki presented the Consul General’s Commendation to Ann and Graham Gund Director Matthew Teitelbaum of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This commendation is a tribute to Director Teitelbaum, who, as the director of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, which houses the largest and extremely valuable collection of Japanese art outside of Japan, has made efforts to spread Japanese culture through the recent renovation and reopening of the Temple Room, last year’s special “Hokusai” exhibition, the ongoing “Songs for Modern Japan” and other special Japanese exhibitions, and regular screenings of Japanese films. The Consul General’s Commendation is awarded to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the United States.
