Address to the New Hampshire House of Representatives by Consul General Suzuki (May 9, 2024)

On May 9th, Consul General Suzuki gave an address on Japan-US and Japan-NH relations to the largest state legislature in the United States.
 
In the address, Consul General Suzuki expressed his appreciation for the contributions of New Hampshire to the strengthening of the Japan-US relationship with the involvement of Secretary of State Daniel Webster and President Franklin Pierce in the signing of the Japan-US Treaty of Peace and Amity, the Treaty of Amity and Commerce, and the role of citizen diplomacy of Portsmouth residents in the conclusion of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty, which brought an end to the Russo-Japanese War.
 
In addition, the Consul General spoke about the official visit by Prime Minister Kishida to the US in April, the importance of the Japan-US alliance, and economic relations between the two countries. He also said that the Consulate General will endeavor to further Japan-US exchange, and look for future possibilities of mutual cooperation.
