Japan Festival Boston Returns to Boston Common After Five Years

April 30, 2024
On April 27th and 28th, the Japan Festival Boston returned to Boston Common after a five-year hiatus. Both days were blessed with good weather, drawing larger crowds than ever before. This festival is organized and operated by a committee of volunteers centering the local Japanese community. On the main stage, various genres of music and dance performances were showcased. Meanwhile, in the vicinity, numerous booths offered an array of Japanese foods, including ramen, okonomiyaki, and takoyaki for sale, along with booths showcasing Japanese companies, cultural displays, and merchandise. The cultural workshop tent, which introduced traditional Japanese culture and activities, was also a great success. The opening ceremony featured speeches by Consul General Suzuki, MA Representative Uyterhoeven, Japan Festival President Mitsuoka, and Boston City Councilor Flynn.
