Attendance at the Ceremony Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of JAL Launching Boston-Tokyo Direct Flight

2022/5/3
On April 22, Consul General Ohmori attended the ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the direct flight route between Tokyo and Boston at Boston International Logan Airport. The ceremony featured congratulatory speeches by Consul General Omori, Mr. Todd Smith of the Massachusetts Port Authority, and Mr. Jim Carter of American Airlines, followed by a traditional song and dance performance of the soran-bushi by students from Showa Boston.

Since its launch on April 22, 2012, this nonstop flight has gone beyond the concept of just a convenient means of transportation. It has become a spiritual support for Japanese and Japanese-Americans living in New England.

The New England region is planning a variety of activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the nonstop service, and the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston sincerely hopes for the further development of the nonstop service between Boston and Tokyo.
