International Bar Association (IBA) Reception October 7

On Oct. 7 at the Consul General’s Official Residence, a reception for members of the International Bar Association (IBA) was given jointly by the Consulate General and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations.  The occasion for the reception was the annual meeting of the IBA, which was held in Boston this year from Oct. 6-11.
At the outset, Consul General Muto gave greetings in which he commented on how timely it was that the IBA, which focuses its activities on the rule of law, should have its annual meeting this year in the city where the Boston Marathon bombing had happened in April.  He also said he was pleased that next year the IBA will hold its meetings in Japan.  Further greetings were given by Kenji Yamagishi, President of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and former IFA President Akira Kawamura.
Participants at the reception networked and engaged in pleasant conversation about the proceedings of the annual meeting.
