Donations to Earthquake and Tsunami Victims in Japan

We have received many kind messages and offers of support from a wide range of people following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and we are very grateful.
We are currently receiving donations to help alleviate the serious damage that took place in the earthquake. The Japanese Association of Greater Boston, the Japanese Disaster Relief Fund (a partnership with the Boston Foundation, the Japan Society of Boston, and the Fish Family Foundation), the American Red Cross, and the Japanese Red Cross are also accepting donations.

  • Donations received by the consulate will be sent directly to the Japanese Red Cross. A portion of the donations will be used for the bank transfer fees.
  • The Japanese Red Cross will distribute the donations with the local authorities in the affected areas, and they in turn will give it to the victims. For those who wish to send the donations to other organizations than the Japanese Red Cross, please contact us.
  • Please note that we will not be able to issue a receipt and the donation will not be tax-deductible.
