"For the time being, foreign nationals who have stayed in any of the following 152 countries/regions within 14 days prior to the application for landing are denied to enter Japan..." [Read More]

As of November 1st, for re-entry of foreign nationals with the status of residence, the "Letter of Confirmation" and "Receipt for Request of Re-entry" are no longer needed when re-entering Japan from deisgnated areas subject to entry ban.

However, a negative COVID-19 test result conducted within 72 hours of departure time is still required.

You are required to obtain an inspection certificate (negative test result) before departing the U.S. for Japan (the test must be conducted within 72 hours of the intended departure).

You will be denied entry into Japan if you fail to submit the certificate upon your arrival to Japan (Therefore, airlines will not give you permission to board an aircraft departing for Japan without the certificate).

*If a test result does not include your personal information (e.g. passport number, nationality), then the test subject may add that information to the certificate by hand. (However, your name must still be included on the original test result certificate and may not be added to the certificate by the test subject.)

*For certificates issued in the U.S., medical institution/laboratory's letterhead and a doctor's printed name can be substituted for the imprint of a seal/doctor's signature.
