Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette upon Charles B. Doleac, President of Japan-America Society of New Hampshire, on September 5

On September 5th, 2011, the Consulate General of Japan in Boston will hold a ceremony for the conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden Rays with Rosette on Mr. Charles B. Doleac, president of the Japan-America Society of New Hampshire (JAS-NH).  The Imperial Decoration and diploma will be presented by Consul General Takeshi Hikihara.
Mr. Doleac established the Japan-America Society of New Hampshire in 1988 to promote mutual understanding between Japan and the U.S. and to strengthen our friendly relations. He has worked tirelessly since then as the first President of the society to achieve these ends.  Mr. Doleac has made significant efforts to promulgate Americans of the historical background of the Treaty of Portsmouth, which concluded the Japan-Russo war, and the significance of citizen diplomacy in the conflict-resolution process.  In light of these contributions to our friendship between Japan and the U.S., the Government of Japan has decided to confer the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette upon Mr. Doleac.
The ceremony will be held at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, the historical hotel where both delegations of Japan and Russia stayed during the Portsmouth Conference, and which Mr. Doleac exerted himself to conserve.
